Governor spends weekend in New York, attends Jets game

Gov. Albert Bryan Jr. spent the long weekend in New York, and attended Monday night’s Jets football game alongside representatives from the Tourism Department.

Government House did not announce Bryan’s departure from the territory, and Communications Director Richard Motta Jr. only mentioned the trip after questioning from The Daily News during Tuesday’s press briefing. “The governor is en route to the territory,” Motta said, when asked where Bryan was.

In response to questions about where Bryan was returning from, Motta explained that, “the governor was in New York yesterday, on invite from the New York Jets organization to give the ceremonial coin toss out at the Monday night football game that occurred last night. As you all know in the public, the Virgin Islands Department of Tourism has a marketing partnership with the Jets organization, as well as other sports organizations like the Boston Red Sox, the Chicago Cubs, and the Milwaukee Bucks, really all aimed at targeting the specific demographics of those populations in those regions, and aimed at increasing air lift to the territory.”
