The Department of Sports Park and Recreation shuts down activities for at least the next two weeks

VI Reporter U.S. Virgin Islands - The Department of Sports, Parks, and Recreation has suspended all sports and recreation activities for the next two weeks. Commissioner Calvert White blames the rise of the Covid-19 positive cases in the territory. White stated, " We appreciate your understanding during this public health emergency. We encourage you to stay diligent and continue to practice good hand and respiratory hygiene." In addition, the department has suspended the rental of facilities until further notice to minimize exposure to the Covid-19 virus. Individuals who have reserved facilities within the next 30 days are asked to call the main office to reschedule. Individuals on St. Croix can call 340-773-0160 and those on St. Thomas can call 340-774-0255. After the two-week suspension and in conjunction with the Department of Health the Department of Sports, Parks, and Recreation will revisit the suspension of activities and determine if it is safe to resume activities.
